About the Artwork

The Shepherd's Embrace was created by special request and in honor of a momma whose heart knows the unimaginable loss of her precious baby.

The Shepherd's Embrace portrays Jesus, the Good Shepherd, gently embracing a precious baby against a contemporary view from the Rimrocks overlooking Billings, Montana.

The figures were painted with a luminous, translucent quality rather than strict realism, symbolizing the meeting of the earthly and the eternal. The color orange symbolizes the radiance of God's presence, the promise of a new dawn, and the hope that shines even in the darkest seasons of grief. It represents the warmth of Christ's love, the refining work of faith, and the assurance of our hope in Him to help us overcome life’s deepest sorrows.

The Shepherd's Embrace proclaims the hope of the Gospel—that Jesus, the Good Shepherd, lovingly gathers His little ones into His arms and carries them close to His heart.
